According to the U.S. News & World Report article, gut bacteria found in the intestines might help doctors diagnose Type 2 diabetes even before signs of the disease appear. “Gut bacteria is a powerhouse of the internal system, including the organ system. It can certainly lower the risk of getting a Types 2 diabetes by increasing the sensitivity to insulin, which is key in reducing Type 2 diabetes. Trillions of microbes in our intestine are working every second for our health benefits, but it still warrants further studies to come to a definitive conclusion.” said Dr. Mukunda Karmacharya, founder of the Karma Holistic Center. “I think it can be possible to detect Type 2 diabetes from simple and easy stool tests.”

In order to promote healthy gut bacteria and intestinal flora, Dr. Karmacharya stresses the importance of natural botanical and herbal foods, which grow healthy intestinal flora. Natural botanical and herbal foods, in fact, help to grow the optimum flora bacteria population to maintain one’s everyday needs in their internal system, providing an advantage to prevent unwanted health conditions.

“Our intestinal flora bacteria is vegetarian, and loves water-soluble vegetable fibers,” said Dr. Karmacharya. “During digestion, they dine on their favorite fibers, grow fast and provide positive benefits for us.”

These flora, adds Dr. Karmacharya, interact with the food one eats and starts producing important short chain fatty acids (SCFA), which enter the system during digestion via the bloodstream. These SCFA circulate everywhere from head to toe.

“Best of all, SCFA seal off those pesky fat cells from collecting fat from our everyday food and prevent the formation of cellulite and the dreaded beer belly,” said Dr. Karmacharya. “Instead, the intake fats are used for fuel, so, essentially, feeding intestinal flora is also the secret to losing weight and maintaining a healthy, balanced body.”
